Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Science Resource Center Assistant.  

 

Primary Purpose:  To maintain and deliver science kits to elementary campuses.

 

Qualifications:  High School Diploma/GED

 

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Proficient in basic computer and keyboarding skills
• Basic knowledge of Excel, Outlook and Word
• Possess general knowledge of warehouse operations
• Display excellent communication and people skills
• Driving panel truck (CDL not required
• Forklift operation

 

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

 

Experience:

• Warehouse and clerical experience preferred

 

 Major Responsibilties and Duties:

• Refurbish science kits
• Deliver kits on schedule and maintain records of kit locations
• Maintain SRC and warehouse organization
• Receive and put away inventory shipments
• Take responsibility for proper car and maintenance of school vehicles and equipment assigned to the Science Resource Center
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Reading and comprehending simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Writing simple correspondence.
• Responding to inquiries from teachers and campus administration.
• Anticipate needed tasks to stay on schedule.
• Defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.

 

Physical demands/environmental factors:

• Lifting heavy objects up to 50-80 lbs.
• Working outside and inside.
• Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
• Exposure to dust and dirt.
• Reaching with hands and arms and frequently repeating the same hand, arm, or finger motion.
• Bending or twisting at the neck and trunk more than the average person.
• Seeing close work such as typed or handwritten material
