Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of District Bilingual Lead Teacher. The appointee will report to the Bilingual/ESL Coordinator and will provide supplemental support and instructional strategies to teachers working with limited English proficient students and immigrant children or youth.  The Lead Teacher will also assist in planning, organizing, coordinating and conducting relevant staff development in the content area to teachers and administrators.

(* This position is funded through Title III and will be evaluated at the end of each year based on the success of the program and availability of funds.)

 

Qualifications:  The Lead Teacher will have a valid Texas Teacher Certificate in Bilingual Education and at least three (3) years of  successful teaching experience at the elementary level.

 

Preference will be given to applicants who:

 

• hold a Master’s degree
• have experience in a leadership position
• are proficient in both English and Spanish (oral and written)
• possess an understanding of technology and how it relates to the classroom
• exhibit the ability to review and assist in the planning and preparation of teaching manuals, course of study bulletins, curriculum/resource guides, handbooks, etc.
• display the ability to develop and deliver effective staff development programs       
• possess effective analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
• demonstrate effective communication, public relation and interpersonal skills

 

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

Salary:  Pay Range:  Teacher Salary Schedule;  195 days

            (Includes Bilingual stipend)
