Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Licensed Specialist in School Psychology - Intern.  The appointee will report directly to the Executive Director - Special Education Services and will provide an array of psychological services to students, parents, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.  The appointee will complete evaluations of the intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning of students to determine eligibility for special education services, participate in ARD meetings to determine appropriate placement and Individual Education Plans for students, and consult with students, parents, and school district personnel while under the supervision of a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology.  

Qualifications:  The LSSP will have a Bachelor's Degree in education, psychology or a related field of study and be enrolled in a university training program. The intern must also have established readiness for enrollment in the university's designated internship experience, course, curriculum, and academic training leading to licensure by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists as an LSSP along with practicum experience.

Preference will be given to applicants who:

--have successful practicum experience in a public school

--demonstrate expertise in behavior modification, along with a strong background

   in behavior management techniques

--possess strong analytical and organizational skills

--demonstrate effective communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

Salary:  teacher salary; 187 day position
