The Mesquite Independent School District and City of Mesquite are seeking qualified candidates for the position of substitute Pharmacy Technicians in the joint city/school employee health clinic and pharmacy.  Appointees will be placed on an active substitute list and will perform on an as-needed/on call basis.  Substitute Pharmacy Techs will report directly to the clinic pharmacists and will be responsible for the safe preparation of prescription medications for patients and to maintain accurate and organized records of all pharmacy related transactions.  Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  affixing medication labels to containers, entering data for billing/accounting purposes, and assisting with the stocking of supplies, pharmacy organization, clean-up, etc.  Pharmacy Techs will work closely with the pharmacist, clinic manager and staff, school and city administrators, employees who are members of the respective health plans, and eligible dependents.

Qualifications:  To be placed on the active substitute list, Pharmacy Techs must have completed an approved course of study and be certified as a Pharmacy Technician.

Preference will be given to applicants who:

--have a minimum of one (1) year of successful experience in a retail-related pharmacy environment

--exhibit a general understanding of pharmaceuticals and the various medications

--possess an understanding of the technical content of the position as well as the ability to apply these

   skills to health related issues

--are available as-needed and willing to work a flexible schedule

--possess strong assessment skills along with a logical process to gather and analyze data in order to

   make decisions, take action, or commit to specific assignments

--demonstrate the ability to maintain performance level in pressure situations

--demonstrate effective communication, public relation and interpersonal skills (service oriented 

   personality)

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration/committee may find appropriate and acceptable.

Salary/Benefits:  Pay Range:  $14.00/hour
