Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Outreach and Marketing Specialist. The Outreach and Marketing Specialist will report to the Director of Food and Nutrition Services.  They will provide nutrition education to students, parents, and community members through various platforms including, but not limited to, special diets, social media, menu boards, and presentations.  To provide marketing strategies and implementation of a marketing plan for Food and Nutrition Services in an effort to maximize funding.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To provide marketing strategies and implementation of a marketing plan for Food and Nutrition Services to increase the number of students who consume healthy foods and reimbursable meals. To develop print and digital materials for nutrition education to students, parents, and community members through various platforms including, but not limited to, social media, menu boards, and presentations.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Preference given to candidates with education or certification in:

• Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
• Basic knowledge of nutrition; or any combination of experience and training that would provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Thorough knowledge of the use of today’s popular social media platforms to market a program.
• Ability to create original artwork and/or photography for print and digital platforms
• Knowledge of merchandising techniques.
• Ability to multitask appropriately, prioritize, be detail-oriented and be goal-driven.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships and communicate courteously and effectively with food service personnel, administrators, students, parents, and the school community.
• Ability to plan and develop training programs for food service managers and staff.
• Ability to speak to large and small groups.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Proficient in Adobe applications including Photo Shop or Illustrator.
• Have a willingness to learn and assume responsibility.
• Ability to collaborate with the Mesquite ISD Communications staff.
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills with a track record of excellence in writing and editing communications materials.
• Must be sensitive and responsive to diverse cultural and ethnic groups.
• Basic understanding of the principals of nutrition
• Exhibit excellent communication (verbal and written), public relation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to and assist Food and Nutrition Services administrative personnel.

Employment begins:  October 10, 2022 or as soon as possible
