Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Occupational Therapist. The appointee will report directly to the Executive Director - Special Education Services and will assist schools in meeting the needs of individual students in order to facilitate functioning in a school setting, and minimize the effects of disabilities in the educational process.
Qualifications: The Occupational Therapist will have at least a bachelor's degree and Licensure by the Texas State Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners.
Preference will be given to applicants who:
- have pediatric affiliation and/or public school experience
- demonstrate an understanding of computer functions and related technology
- are able to evaluate and recommend appropriate educational modifications for students with disabilities
- demonstrate an understanding of the variety of disabilities and relevant intervention methods and strategies
- exhibit excellent communication (verbal and written), public relation, and interpersonal skills
- possess strong analytical and organizational skills
- have an understanding of and compassion for children with special needs
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.
Salary: Pay Range: Counselor/Diagnostician Salary Schedule + $2,500; 187 day contract
