Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Title I McKinney-Vento Social Worker. The appointee will report directly to the Director of Federal Programs and Lead Social Worker and will assist students and families identified through McKinney-Vento in their personal, academic, and vocational development through individual consultation. The Social Worker will also provide assistance to teachers, administrators, students, and families in correlating school, home, and community agencies in order to support the total development of students experiencing homelessness.

Qualifications:  The Social Worker will have a Master's Degree in social work and licensure by the respective board.

Preference will be given to applicants who:

• have prior experience as a social worker in the public or private sector
• have knowledge of agencies in the community that are available to assist families
• demonstrate an understanding of computer functions and related technology
• exhibit an understanding of counseling techniques and strategies along with conflict resolution and facilitation skills
• demonstrate excellent communication (verbal and written), public relation and interpersonal skills
• possess strong analytical and organizational skills
• are able to work a flexible schedule, as necessary
• have an understanding of and compassion for children and families with special needs

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

Salary:  Social Worker/Counselor Salary Schedule; 202 day contract
