Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Percussion Instructional Assistant – Horn HS, to assist the band staff in preparation and management of percussion activities and administrative/performance requirements. The appointee will work under the supervision of certified band instructors in the Horn HS cluster and will assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instructional programs.

Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED; Texas Educational Aide Certificate; college course work in related content area (Music/Percussion) preferred

Preference will be given to applicants who:

• have a general knowledge of percussion pedagogy.
• have experience working with middle school and high school students.
• have completed college course work in related area.
• demonstrate classroom management skills.
• demonstrate effective communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills.
• demonstrate a working knowledge of computer skills.
• able to work a flexible schedule (including some evenings, as needed).
• have a service-oriented personality.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

Salary:  Pay Range:  Instructional Support (4); $20.00 to $24.40 (hourly); 197 day position
