Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Summer School At-Risk Teacher (Elementary). The teacher will report to the campus principal and will work closely with students, parents, and other campus staff members. The focus of this position is to plan, develop and implement an effective instructional program in a way that includes the best use of research findings, time, space, available technology, financial and community resources so that student achievement will be maximized
Qualifications: The teacher will have a Bachelor's degree and a valid Texas teaching certificate for the subject and level assigned.
Preference will be given to applicants who:
- have successful experience as a classroom teacher and proven success in working with at-risk students
- possess knowledge and understanding of standardized testing and exhibit the ability to disaggregate, analyze and interpret data
- possess an in-depth understanding of effective teaching/remediation strategies
- have an understanding of and compassion for children with various learning styles
- possess an understanding of computer functions and values technology as it relates to instruction
- appreciate, understand, and value multicultural and ethnic diversity
- display the ability to develop and deliver effective staff development programs
- demonstrate effective communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.
Salary: Pay Range: $25/hour
Employment begins: July 7-29, 2021; Monday-Thursday; 8:00am-12:00pm
