Description:  Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates to provide safe transport of students by driving in compliance with traffic regulations over specified routes according to time schedule so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantages from the district’s curriculum and extra-curricular programs. 

Qualifications:  

• Texas Commercial Driver's License (Class B)
• Passanger (P) and School (S) endorsement
• Must pass DOT Drug/Alcohol screening and DOT physical
• Acceptable driving record in accordance with Texas Education Agency and Department of Public Safety standards

Preference will be given to applicants who:

• exhibit effective communication, public relation and interpersonal skills.
• display dependability and punctuality.

 Employment date to be determined.

180 day work schedule.

Bus Drivers who were employed last year will receive $500 after the first 6 weeks of the new school year.  This will increase 5% each year with a maximum of $750. 

Bus Drivers will also receive $500 in December and June if they have met the following criteria:

Drivers: ($500.00)

• Must be a transportation employee on the first day of staff development in the fallsemester, first day of the spring semester, and have credit for ALL mandatory monthlysafety meetings and any assignments due via Safe Pupil.
• New hires start date must be the first day of fall/spring semester.
• Must have no more than two absences during the semester (includes extra routes), with the exception of jury duty and military duty.
• Have no at-fault accident(s) during the semester.
• Have no reprimands on file.

The monetary amount awarded and eligibility will be evaluated on a yearly basis.
