Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Reading Academy Specialist. The appointee will report directly to the Elementary ELA Coordinator and will be responsible for the implantation of Reading Academies for K-3 teachers through facilitation of year-long cohorts. The Specialist will provide professional learning through a comprehensive and/or blended model, review and evaluate submitted artifacts providing feedback to support effective reading instruction, and provide campus support to teachers and administrators within the cohorts. 

Qualifications:   Master's Degree and Texas Teacher Certificate; Master Reading Teacher/ Reading Specialist certification (preferred)

Preference will be given to applicants who:

• demonstrate proficiency on state screener
• have three years of teaching experience in grades K-3
• have the ability to coach teachers and provide feedback
• demonstrate a working knowledge of the science of teaching reading
• exhibit highly effective organizational and consensus-building skills
• have knowledge and understanfing of the policies and procedures of the Mesquite ISD
• demonstrate expertise in Early Childhood reading and writing curriculum including the TEKS, K-3rd grade
• respond with initiative and innovation to the assigned curricular area needs of students and teachers
• have experience planning and presenting professional learning for adults
• have experience in a campus leadership role
• possess knowledge and understanding of the change process, organizational development, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills
• ability to articulate clearly and communicate with a varitety of audiences
• demonstrate knowledge of goals and standards of the district curriculum and initiatives

Salary:   Pay Range:  Teacher Pay Scale Plus Stipend - 195 days
