Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Principal at Thompson Elementary School.  The appointee will report directly to the campus principal and will be responsible for assisting with the instructional program and the overall operation of the campus.  The Assistant Principal will work closely with all personnel, students, and parents associated with the campus.

Qualifications:  The Assistant Principal will have at least a Master's Degree and an Administrator/Mid-Management Certificate.  (*All required exams must be passed and candidates must be fully certified on the date of application.) In addition, candidates must have completed (or in the process of completing) the Administrative Internship through the MISD Professional Learning Department or have prior experience as an assistant principal.

Preference will be given to applicants who:

• have demonstrated successful experience as a classroom teacher at the appropriate level
• have knowledge of curriculum and instructional strategies/teaching methodologies
• exhibit an understanding of district guidelines and policies as they relate to disciplinary and safety procedures
• have an understanding of and compassion for children with various learning styles and behavioral problems
• possess effective conflict resolution and problem solving skills
• display the ability to maintain accurate records in regard to attendance, textbooks, supplies, equipment and materials, etc.
• appreciate, understand, and value multicultural and ethnic diversity
• demonstrate an understanding of technology and its importance in the educational process
• possess strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
• demonstrate effective communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

Salary: Pay Range:  Administrative 2;  $61,500 to $90,300;  210 day contract

Employment begins: February 1, 2020 or as soon as possible
