Position:  Mechanic Helper – Transportation Services

Description:   Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Technician of Mechanic Helper. The appointee will report directly to the Director of Transportation and will assist with maintenance on all district vehicles, overhauling minor components and installing replacements. This person will also assist all mechanics with electrical, hydraulic and computer diagnostics, scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance and responding to service and road calls.

Qualifications:  This position requires a High School diploma or equivalent; Valid Texas Class B/CDL Driver’s License (CDL license can be completed upon being hired)

Preference will be given to applicants who:

• Have basic knowledge and competence with vehicle maintenance, repair and operations
• Possess prior automotive shop experience
• Have knowledge of automotive parts
• Demonstrate a mechanical aptitude with a desire to learn and grow
• Demonstrate effective communication (verbal and written)

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

Salary:     Pay Range:   Auxiliary Compensation Plan – Pay Grade 4; hourly rate $13.90 - $21.37
