Description

Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Educational Diagnostician.  The appointee will report directly to the Executive Director-Special Education Services and the campus principals.  The diagnostician will be responsible for the assessment of students referred to special education and their re-evaluations.  The person will work closely with the special education support staff, campus administrators, the campus referral chairperson, and special education teachers.

 

The Diagnostician will have at least a valid teacher certificate, master's degree and Educational Diagnostician certification.

 

Preference will be given to applicants who:

 

--have knowledge of special education law, policies and procedures, and

  diagnostics as it applies to assessing children with suspected disabilities

--possess excellent communication (written and verbal), public relation, and

  interpersonal skills

--demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the policies and procedures

  of MISD

--exhibit a high degree of knowledge, understanding, and skill with respect to the

  appraisal process

--have an in-depth understanding of state rules, federal regulations, and

  policies concerning special education

 

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

Pay Range:  Counselor/Diagnostician Scale ($56,080 - $73,136 - depending on experience); 187 day contract
